Trail Running Movement’s History
Trail Running Movement was founded in 2013 from the vision of professional trail running athletes, coaches, and multinational managers experienced in startup development and strategic marketing:
- Cristina Tasselli
- Marco Mori
- Michele Tasselli
- Marco Biasotti.
In 2015 the amateur sports services company (SSD) was officially registered, with headquarters in Milan.
Initially operating as Trail Running Movement and focused on the B2C market for amateur and elite trail runners, it was later incorporated into Digital Sport 360 srl, which expanded the activity into the B2B market and eventually became part of the parent company Digital Marketing Promotion 360 SL.
In 2016, TRM organized three scientific research projects during one of the toughest races in the world, the Transpyrenea (900 km, 55,000 m D+), with the direct participation of Cristina Tasselli (3rd overall woman) and Marco Mori (11th overall man), together with another 43 athletes from different nationalities.
The objective of the research was to understand the limits of the human body during an extreme endurance challenge.
The scientific research conducted during the Transpyrenea by researchers from the CNR (Institute of Clinical Physiology) in Pisa, the University and School of Nutrition and Sports Supplementation (SANIS) in Turin, and physiotherapists from Indiba Active* analyzed the impact of extreme performance through the following areas of investigation:
- cardio-circulatory profile: study of cardiac function and monitoring of blood parameters
- nutritional mechanisms: analysis of dietary strategies and energy metabolism under stress using glucose monitoring tools from Abbott
- physical endurance (endurance): evaluation of the ability to sustain prolonged high-intensity efforts over multiple days
- muscle-tendon system: monitoring of inflammatory conditions and the response of soft tissues to continuous stress over 24 hours for 12 days
- joint and skin integrity: investigation of injuries, joint degradation and skin barrier alterations in outdoor environments
- psychological and sensory sphere: administration of cognitive tests and analysis of changes in olfactory perception under severe sleep deprivation (2.5 hours per night).
The data analyzed by the CNR Institute of Medicine in Pisa and SANIS contributed to establishing the foundations of the TRM Method*, for which Trail Running Movement holds the patent and worldwide exclusivity.
In 2018, TRM Team ASD was founded, affiliated with FIDAL, for beginner, amateur, and elite athletes.
Today TRM has, across all its digital channels, more than 25,000 followers worldwide and more than 20 partnerships and clients involved in sports projects, including:
Salomon
Scarpa
BV Sport
Cimalp
Kiron
Decathlon
Fiera Milano Borsa del Turismo
Erba Vita
and many others.
Founders and Coaches
Cristina Tasselli, a Level 3 CONI-certified coach specialized in training and nutrition, is the only Italian woman to have completed a 900 km non-stop race (Transpyrenea, UTMB, AVP 501, UTMB Malaysia, Adamello Ultra Trail…).
Marco Mori, Level 3 CONI coach and President of TRM Team, an expert in training, equipment and injury prevention, has participated in more than 150 international ultra trail races (Transpyrenea, Tor des Géants, UTMB, Ultra Trail Andorra, Transcanaria, Ultra Trail Verbier…).
The two coaches have trained athletes for national and international championships and competitions coming from:
Italy
France
United Kingdom
Switzerland
and other countries across four continents.
They have also coached and prepared athletes for extreme expeditions such as:
the 4 Deserts circuit: Namib Race (Namibia), Gobi March (Mongolia), Atacama Crossing (Chile) and The Last Desert (Antarctica)
the Arctic desert of Lake Baikal (Russia)
the deserts of Morocco and Oman
the jungles of Thailand and Malaysia
and many other hostile environments.
TRM Team ASD: FIDAL and EPS affiliation
In 2016 Trail Running Movement separated its athletic activities into an Amateur Sports Association called TRM Team ASD.
The association focuses exclusively on athlete membership and athletic preparation for athletes of all levels:
beginners
amateur runners
professional athletes
elite athletes.
To date, athletes of TRM Team — both Italian and international — have achieved hundreds of overall and category podium finishes in trail running races around the world, too many to list individually.
