ANNA DE BIASE E LA SUA STORIA D’AMORE CON IL TRAIL RUNNING

| Cristina Tasselli |

Anna De Biase, athlete and CimAlp Tester, lives in Genoa by the sea but with a nearby hinterland behind where there are hills and mountains with beautiful trails and breathtaking views. An ideal place with a mild climate all year round, perfect for practicing outdoor sports. Her life was characterized by a great drama but her love for sport and nature helped her to focus and stabilize her emotions, regaining balance and a smile.

We leave it to her to tell us her story.

The first steps in trail running

I started to get passionate about the outdoor world in adulthood about 5 years ago, first with climbing, thanks to my mountaineer husband, and then with trail running.

My first race was the  Gran Trail Rensen, 30km. I did not know about the trail running discipline, even if I practiced athletics at a competitive level, but I remember that, right from the start, it left me with wonderful sensations. After the first experience, I continued and never stopped increasing the distances, collecting many races, on the wings of enthusiasm, and chasing the famous Itra points!

“I’m lucky enough to have a special training partner “Sofficina “.  She follows me everywhere faithfully and patiently. She could tell a lot about our outdoor adventures.”

The discovery of ultra trails and that “special thing” they can give you

My first ultra trail was the 85km Transgrancanaria, I had never raced at night in the dark and it was thrilling. After that I participated in the CCC and twice in the TDS.

Ultra Trails and running in nature in general have a positive effect on me and on my emotions, my stability.

An ultra trail from a mental point of view allows me to select the thoughts to be processed by making me concentrate on the most important ones.

My life has been characterized by a serious and hard to accept loss, the death of my husband due to a mountaineering accident. It was not easy for me to get up and start again; running helped me a lot.

Now I have a new partner, Andrea, who supports me in my passions and also new goals and projects.

2020 and the new year to come

This year, despite Covid, I managed to complete two ultra trails, the Ronda Ghibellina Plus 70km and the Ultra Trail of the Julian Alps 120Km, two 2nd places on the podium that I am very happy with. Yes, because my track and field past has left me with a “light” competitive spirit! I already have my 2021 challenges in place, for example the Transgrancanaria 125Km, emergency permitting.
