Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who can participate in the Mont Blanc Trail Running Camp?

The Camp is open to all trail runners with mountain running experience, even at an amateur level.

It is designed for those who wish to improve their physical, technical, nutritional, and mental preparation in view of races like UTMB®, CCC®, TOR®, Swiss Peaks, or other ultra or alpine endurance trail races.

What are the differences between the 4-day and 2-day Camps?

The 4-day Camp (170 km) follows the entire Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc route, starting from Chamonix and arriving in Courmayeur.

The 2-day Camp (90 km) largely retraces the UTMB CCC® course, from Courmayeur to Chamonix (except for a section of the initial part). Both include overnight stays, technical coaching, and assistance along the route.

What is the period of the Camp?

The Mont Blanc Trail Running Camp 2026 will be held from July 30 to August 2, 2026, an ideal period for the last long run before the summer ultra trail races.

The period is specifically chosen to allow for the optimization of athletic and nutritional preparation before tackling the goal race and the toughest one of the year.

In this long run, reliance is placed on professional Coaches to obtain the best advice and secrets used by the UTMB® winning Champions.

Where do we sleep during the Camp?

Athletes stay in alpine huts and very simple guesthouses, with half-board treatment (breakfast and dinner).

Overnight stays range from 1 to 3 nights depending on the type of Camp chosen (4 or 2 days).

Huts and guesthouses are not hotels, so they can be extremely spartan, depending on what the area offers that year.

Those who wish for better facilities can request an upgrade and, by paying the difference in price by May 30, ensure a better structure.

What is included in the participation fee?

The fee includes: technical briefing, gear check, daily training and technical sessions, overnight stays, dinners and breakfasts, coaching by certified TRM Coaches and international athletes, and athlete potential analysis (until February 2026).

The items mentioned in the article are excluded, and surcharges are expected after February 28 and after May 30… or in the last month before the Camp.

What costs should I consider for participation?

Prices differs from tyoe of Camps:

  • UTMB® Camp 4 days: €699 p.p.

  • CCC® Camp 2 days: €299 p.p.

  • The TRM Team ASD card + mandatory ASI insurance (€35/year) is also required.

  • Athlete Potential Assessment is free until the end of February 2026, then: € 39.00 (mandatory).

  • Transfer from Courmayeur to Chamonix and back: € 9.00 per trip (contribution for Mont Blanc Tunnel payment).

  • Shower token or hut sheet, where required by the accommodation facility (approx. € 5.00 euros).

  • Extra services, such as additional overnight stays not included in the Camp, race nutrition package, paper hut sheet, hut shower are optional.

What type of training and technical content is covered?

During the Camp, TRM coaches teach you:

  • Uphill and downhill running techniques

  • Efficient use of poles on ascents, descents, and flat sections

  • Night running management with headlamps

  • Nutritional planning and nutritional integration strategies

  • Sleep management and micro-sleep technique

  • Prevention and management of injuries or recurring problems in trail running races

  • Backpack optimization and gear or technology choice

Is a high level of preparation required?

An elite level is not required, but good physical preparation and endurance are advisable: generally the ability to cover 30-40 km in the mountains.

The Camp takes place in an alpine environment and involves elevation gains between 2,300 and 2,800 m D+ per day.

Contact TRM Team to check your preparation.

How do I make a reservation and what are the available spots?

Spots are limited due to the availability of the mountain huts and run out quickly by November (6-8 months in advance).

Reservations are made online on the official Trail Running Camp Monte Bianco – TRM page or via email: info@trailrunningmovement.com, with the possibility of blocking the spot even as a gift for a trail runner for  birthdays or Christmas (by purchasing it in advance).

Who leads the Camp and what kind of support will I receive?

The Camp is led by professional TRM Coaches – international athletes with experience in races like UTMB®, TOR®, Transpyrenea 900km.

The Coaches have 20 years of experience in preparing for ultra and endurance trails.

They are coaches for beginners as well as Elite Athletes.

TRM Coaches offer continuous support during the course, practical lessons, performance analysis, and personalized advice.

Is baggage or gear transport provided during the Camp?

Transport is not provided, as the goal of the Camp is to prepare to run ultra trail races with the gear that can be carried in the backpack for 2 days.

Athletes departing from Courmayeur can leave a bag with a change of clothes in Courmayeur which they will use on the 3rd and 4th day.

Athletes departing from Chamonix can ship a change of clothes to the Courmayeur accommodation or have their clothing washed in the Mountain Hut.

What is the refund policy in case of inability to participate?

In case of need, a partial refund can be requested up to 1 month before the start of the Camp, depending on what is established on the TRM website’s Terms of Use page or on the dedicated page (which may vary from year to year).

Currently, these are the provisions:

  • Up to 60 days before the Camp, 100% refund of the amount paid net of flat-rate bank and administrative fees of 39,00 euros and the cost of the sports card;

  • Up to 30 days before the Camp, 85% refund of the amount paid;

  • Up to 5 days before the Camp, 50% refund of the amount paid;

  • From the 5th day onwards, no refund.
