ULTRA TRAIL VIPAVA VALLEY, Slovenia – (6-8 May 2022)
Ultra Trail Vipava Valley is the largest international trail running event in Slovenia with 5 races and distances from 13km to 160km and a non-competitive event: the Hike & Wine.

The finish line, for all races, is the small town of Vipava located on the river with the same name near the Italian border.
The amazing race tracks of the Ultra Trail Valley Vipava (UTVV) develop between low mountain trails, hills and centuries-old vineyards; ideal trails in spring for testing yourself at the beginning of the competitive trail running season.
The Vipava Valley is historically known for the hard battle that Emperor Theodosius I won in 394 AD. to reunite the Roman Empire. From this historical event all the races, or rather, the challenges that you will have to face, take the “Roman” names!
The Valley is known for the production of the best Slovenian wines, medieval villages, lush nature and mild temperatures. In the area there is the opportunity to visit, in addition to the ancient Palazzo di Zemono, with precious Baroque frescoes, numerous other historical, cultural and food and wine attractions.
The UTVV is part of the most prestigious circuits Salomon Golden Trail Series, UTMB World Series ,Alpe Adria Cup and awards ITRA points. In addition, trail runners who finish 106Kk or 160Km, on time, can access the lottery for Western States.

UTMB World Series qualifying race, Western States, Alpe Adria Trail Cup, ITRA: 6 points. Departure May 6 at 19.00 from Ajdovščina
It is the queen race with the most iconic and also the most challenging track. The route develops all around the Vipava Valley, in the area where the battle of Frigido took place between the armies of the Eastern and Western Roman emperor. From the highest point you can see the Adriatic Sea!
UTMB World Series qualifying race, Western States, Alpe Adria Trail Cup, ITRA: 5 points. Departure May 6th at 11.30pm from Ajdovščina
The track climbs up to the highest point of the UTVV – Mali Golak (1495 m) and allows you to admire the most beautiful views of the wine-growing areas on the southern slopes of the Vipava Valley. From Podnanos, another climb leads to the Nanos – Pleša plateau (1262m) before descending to the finish.
UTMB World Series qualifying race, Alpe Adria Trail Cup. ITRA: 3 points Departure 7 May at 08.00 from Vipavski Križ
The track runs on the slopes of the southern vineyards and passes through historic villages from Velike Žablje to Erzelj, from Goče to Socerb. The last climb, from Podnanos, along a panoramic path leads to the highest point of the race, Pleša (1262 m). From there it continues through the forest in the heart of Nanos until it tackles the last descent towards the finish line in Vipava.

The track follows the dirt path from the villages Manče, Podraga to Podnanos and continues with steep climbs on the southern edge of the Nanos plateau to the highest point of Pleša at 1262m. A quick descent after the forest in the heart of Nanos leads to the finish in Vipava.
The offer is completed by the 13Km Asterix that has no time limit and the non-competitive Obelix Hike & Wine dedicated to companions or those who love trekking and good food. In fact, along the way it is possible to taste typical products at the various dedicated refreshment points.
The organization proposes several affiliated hotels, including hostels, where you can stay during the competition period. They also offers the possibility to book, for those who do not run, a trip with the Vintage Wine Train, a historic train that takes passengers to discover the local vineyards with tasting.

How to get to the UTVV race by plane? Choosing the most convenient connected airport: Trieste (45km), Venice (150km), Treviso (150km) or Ljubljana (100 km) and then rent a car or use other suitable means.

She trains elite trail running athletes and she teaches in trail running coach certification courses. She is an author of sports articles on training, nutrition and supplementation in trail running and running, both in Italian and in English and Spanish. She manages relationships and collaborations with Federations and Race Organizers.
